Vickie Sigman, Consultant

Presentation given at MEAS GLEE on June 6, 2012: 

Dr. Vickie A. Sigman earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in International Agriculture and Extension Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.   Beginning as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, she has since worked in diverse formal and non-formal agriculture and extension education programs and projects in various countries in Africa and in Indonesia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.  Over the past 30 years, she has held short and long-term posts ranging from introducing the agriculture extension component of a soils science CRSP in Sumatra, leading the effort to integrate population education into pre and in-service training for agriculture and forestry extension agents in Malawi, managing a literacy program for women in Afghanistan, to supporting the process of developing USAID/Liberia’s multi-year Feed the Future strategy.   She has lived most of her adult life overseas.  

Given her freelance status, Vickie has worked for USAID, FAO, Asian Development Bank, US and Indonesian Universities, and Japanese and US consulting firms.  Dr. Sigman has a farm in Nebraska and is based in her native state of Idaho where she and her husband live when they are in the US.
