R Best

Rupert Best is a rural and agricultural research and development specialist with specific interest in linking small holder farmers to markets and agroenterprise development. He is currently a Senior Technical Advisor for Agriculture and the Environment at the Catholic Relief Services’ Headquarters in Baltimore. His job entails supporting CRS’ country programs in designing and implementing innovative agricultural projects. 

Prior to joining CRS in November 2010, Rupert worked for 25 years with the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) at its headquarters in Cali, Colombia, with assignments in CIAT’s regional office in Uganda and ultimately seconded to the Global Form on Agricultural Research (GFAR) in Rome. He initiated his career with the United Kingdom’s Tropical Products Institute, London and holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK.
