Suzanne Poland

Suzanne Poland joined USAID as a Foreign Service Officer in 2001 and has more than 30 years of agriculture development experience including 25 years in Africa. In Africa she has held senior agriculture project design and management positions with USDA, USAID and NGO projects including Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party and Senior Agriculture Lecturer.  She joined USAID as a Foreign Service Officer in 2001 and has served 4 year assignments in both Mozambique and Ethiopia and one year tour in Afghanistan and currently is a Team Leader for Staple Crops and Extension in the Bureau of Food Security, USAID Washington.  She has also worked in agriculture programs in Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Swaziland, Chad, Mali, Guinea (Conakry), and Haiti and for 5 years with the West Virginia University Extension Service as Integrated Pest Management Extension Specialist.  She holds double M.S. degrees in Crop Physiology and Agricultural Extension and a B.S in Agronomy – all from Iowa State University.
