Sandra Russo

Dr. Sandra L. Russo is Director of Program Development in the University of Florida’s International Center. An agronomist and animal nutritionist by training, she has worked in international development in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Middle East since 1981. She was a AAAS Fellow at USAID on the higher education team in 1999-2000 and has worked as a gender advisor to USAID since then. At UF, she has led higher education partnerships in southern Africa and is the PI on two USAID consortial projects, innovATE (Innovations in Agricultural Training and Education) and INGENAES (Integrating Gender and Nutrition into Agricultural Extension Services). Her recent work focuses primarily in Africa and the Middle East on gender and environment and natural resource management topics including community based natural resources management, water, climate change, and food security.
