Roland Smith

Dr. Roland D. Smith is an Agricultural Economics and Extension Service Specialist with over 40 years of experience working in agriculture, agribusiness, marketing, and extension administration—both domestic and international. He has worked in a variety of roles and assignments within the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS). At the time of his initial retirement, he was serving as the Associate Director for Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Community Economic Development for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. He has held key positions on grants and contracts from USAID, USDA, and the Texas Department of Agriculture. He is currently serving as the Chief of Party for the two-year USAID/Strengthening Extension and Advisory Services Project in Georgia. Prior to his current international assignment, he served as the administrative liaison to the USDA/NIFA contract for the Iraq Agricultural Extension Revitalization (IAER) Project for which the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture at Texas A&M University was the lead institution.
