Richard Githaiga Kangeri

Mr. Richard Githaiga is a senior assistant Director of Agriculture at the State Department of Agriculture in charge of management of extension and advisory services in Kenya. He has been involved in he management of extension at different levels in the country since his first posting in 1988.. He graduated with a bachelors degree in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi in 1988 and obtained his masters degree in sustainable rural development, majoring in agricultural extension at the University of Tsukuba, Japan in 2007. He is a member of Kenya Society for Agricultural Proffessionals.Mr Githaiga developed the e-Extension project in 2013 with the objective of building capacity of public extension to improve efficiency of extension services delivery by leveleging on developments in ICT subsector in Kenya. He supervised procurement and distribution of ICT equipment to over six hundend and fifty field extension officers in addition to training the officers on ICT based extension. He is credited with jointly developing and leading a partmership with MEAS and CRS in the implementation of 5 skills set training for field agents and map and track extension management application in Kenya. Recently he has also been involved in championing implementation of national extension policy by leadiing the development of Kenya Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (KEFAAS), a stakeholders loby and the development of natinal guidelines and standards for extension services in the Country
