Kalim Qamar

Dr. M. Kalim Qamar, a US citizen of Pakistani origin, earned two Masters’ degrees from West Pakistan Agricultural University and American University of Beirut, and a Ph.D. from Cornell University. He taught at University of Massachusetts, and later served as Advisor on Rural Development & Non-formal Education in Papua New Guinea, as Advisor on Agricultural Extension & Training/Team Leader in Indonesia, as Extension Communication Specialist in Nepal, and as Chief Technical Advisor on Extension & Training in Iraq. He worked as Country Projects Officer, and then as Senior Officer for Extension & Training at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Rome for 17 years. Dr. Qamar, who has worked for FAO, World Bank, UNDP and USAID projects/missions, enjoys a vast geographical experience covering about 50 countries of Asia and the Pacific, Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and North and Central America regions. He has authored several FAO publications. His latest extension activity is the preparation of detailed summaries of agricultural extension & advisory systems of 70 countries, now available at the website of the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS).
