Francis Neindow

Mr Francis Abdulai Neindow is currently the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture at the Savelugu Nanton Municipal Assembly in Northern Ghana, a Public Agricultural Extension Service provider to small, medium and large scale farmers in crops, livestock, fisheries and renewable natural management. The flagship initiative Market - Oriented Agriculture Production (MOAP) model is one Mr Neindow is promoting and training agricultural extension agents who would in turn train farmer groups. He has developed some innovative extension approaches and tools to reach out to many rural farmers since the agricultural extension/ farmer ratio is very high in Ghana. This includes the use of ICT especially the use of video van to show videos on good agricultural practices in both the local language and English to farmers in their communities in the evenings after dinner.

He has worked in a number of Districts in Northern Ghana as a District Agricultural Extension officer, a Training officer/Human Resource Development as well as a Director of agriculture for Ministry of Food and Agriculture.  Mr Neindow has a BSc Degree in Renewable Natural Resource Management, and a postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Administration. His speciality is Renewable Natural Resource Management and Livelihoods’ framework. He has worked as a consultant on Agriculture and Food Security to a number of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Northern Ghana for example, Action Aid International Ghana (AAI), Adventist Development and Relief Agency  Ghana (ADRA),  from 2002- 2008. Presently he is a consultant on Food Security to TRIAS, Ghana and Urban Agricultural Network (URBANET), Ghana. Mr Neindow is now serving as a member of the Champions for Change Agriculture Networking Group on Ghana’s Agriculture Policy.
