Eija Pehu

Eija Pehu joined the Agriculture and Rural Development Department (now Food and Agriculture Global Practice) of the World Bank in 2000 as the Science Advisor. She leads the agricultural research, extension and innovation work. She is also the focal point on gender in agriculture in the World Bank. Prior to joining the World Bank she led the Center of Excellence in Applied Biotechnology in the University of Helsinki. Eija Pehu earned her Ph.D. in Horticulture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and M.Sc. from the Department of Crop Production at the University of Helsinki.
