Mary Kamau, Director of Agricultural Extension and Training, Kenya

Dr. Mary Kamau is the Director of Agricultural Extension and Training - a position she has held for the last 5 years. She have over 30 yearsof experience in field advisory services having served at different capacities from District to National Level. Currently she is in charge of over 5000 extension staff serving 5million small scale farmers and very conversant with tools and approaches in extension service delivery and resource base management in extension. She is the convener of the Thematic Working Group (TWG) on research and extension, an arm of the Agricultural Sector Coordinating Unit (ASCU). The TWG was very instrumental in developing a National Agriculture Sector Extension Policy (NASEP) which is now a parliament Sessional Paper of 2011, the gist of the policy is Pluralism in Agriculture Extension and Quality Assurance in the provision of the services. I have been an active participant of the Agricultural Extension Reforms in the country. She is a member of the country Fora, AFAAS (African Fora For Agricultural Advisory Services), Global Fora For Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS).
